The brilliant colors of fall are quickly fluttering down from the
trees here in upstate NY.We've pulled out the cozy blankets and are
getting ready to stock up on some firewood.
Fall is the ideal time to start getting better organized. With many
holidays just around the corner and the overload of a busy schedule,
I don't know what I would do without some serious organizing!
====================================================================
How To Get More Organized and Save Money For the Holidays
1. Don't wait until December to start!
2. Write down all of those that you need (not want)to buy for.
3. Know your total budget and then assign a monetary maximum to
each person on the list. Be certain that you don't exceed
the budget number.
4. Now, write down a few different ideas for each name.
Consider buying multiples of the same gift if you get a
great deal.
Example: My local grocery store had these awesome smelling jar
candles on sale (Village Candle- Kitchen Candles).
I stocked up on a few.
Sweet Butter cream smells wonderful and beats the well-known
competition for almost half the price!
5. Buy wrapping paper, tape and bows now (or if you're a smarty you
purchased them after December 25th last year!)
6. Wrap as you buy. Cross off the list as you buy. This will
decrease your stress and allow you to enjoy the season.
It also helps to serve as a visual as to what you have accomplished!
7. If funds are tight (for most of us they are), go homemade!
Here are a few suggestions that may help:
- Purchase an inexpensive platter that can be used again and fill
it with homemade cookies or mini-loaves of bread. Try
wrapping it in cellophane and top it off with a home-made ornament.
- Frame a beautiful picture. (A family memory, moment or a
child's drawing)
- Practical gifts are always appreciated: note paper with
a book of stamps,an organizer tucked into a new tote or bag,
a gas card wrapped up with a traveling coffee mug with some
coffee, bath gels/lotion in a basket
with a few fresh washcloths or towels, diapers tucked into
a diaper bag,or a small photo album filled with a few memories.
- Some folks are really struggling. Here is one of my favorite
gifts that keeps on giving:
Adopt a bill from a loved one or someone you know who is
really struggling! I've taken on my single mom's garbage bill
every month. An extra 30-40 bucks to a senior is a lot these
days.
All you need to do is call the service and let them know
what you want to do. Heck, you might even do it anonymously!
Most are delighted to help you out.
(Of course mom always gets a little something more =).
The best gift of course is LOVE! Giving of your time, talents
and treasures are often times the gifts that leave the heart full
and the soul satisfied.
I hope this helps give you a few ideas. If you'd like to share a
few tips with me I'd love to hear from you. I may even post them
on the website!

Your Purchase can help Bizzimom's Featured Charity for 2009:
Carlie's Crusade Foundation has grown near and dear to my heart. You may recall the event that took place in Sarasota, FL back in 2004. 11 year old Carlie Brucia was walking home from a friend's home and chose to take a short cut through a car wash.
Here is a link to
their site where you can view it for yourself:

Through a personal and painful experience in our own family, I have felt the strong urging to help out this organization however small it may be. A portion of November 2008 sales will be donated to Carlie's Crusade. If you'd like to
take advantage of this giving opportunity consider ordering a planner today http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=Mhn4_&m=1ZGdMhNrmdOaez&b=xkbj7x2aYdU7jKIV1PiXEw
If you've purchased a planner and would still like to make a donation you can to it very easily at

5 Ways to De-Stress For Less!
On a lighter note, do something simply wonderful for yourself today! What is it you've been hoping to do but simply keep on pushing it to the bottom of the list?
1. Call that friend!
2. Set up a girls night out
3. Take a bubble bath with your favorite smelling gels and lotions!
4. Go on a long walk with some uplifting music in your ears!
5. Look through some old pictures...maybe start a scrapbook!
Whatever makes you smile... you deserve to smile, everyday! Everyday is a gift.
Focus on the positives in your life and they will drown out the negatives.
I am thankful for you and I pray that this Thanksgiving will be a blessing to all of you and your families.
Warmly,
Tammy Matthews
